Where You’re Going Wrong

“I’ll Save Money and Do it Myself”

This is not a good idea when it comes to bed bugs. You can’t get the right pesticides without a license and you don’t have the experience to do it right the first time. Why waste your time and money?

“They Can’t Be in the Furniture”

Bed bugs are opportunists. They will go where the easiest meal is. Whether that’s your recliner, your bed or your carpet doesn’t matter to them. Just because you don’t see them doesn’t mean they’re not there.

“Bed Bugs Only Live on Beds”

Wrong! Bed bugs primarily feed in your bed because that’s where you’re asleep and non-moving. The rest of the time they live in the small cracks and crevices on your bed and furniture.

Common Places To Check For Bed Bugs

Bed Bugs are small, flat and very thin. They can fit into cracks no bigger than the size of a credit card. That leaves a lot of areas to check if you think you may have an infestation.

Beds and mattresses comprise the overwhelming majority of bed bug hiding spots. This is the first place you want to thoroughly inspect. Use a flashlight and look at all folds, creases, and tufs of the mattress. Don’t forget to check the box spring as well (especially the underside). Check sheets for any blood spots they may have left behind.

Bed bugs also lilke to live in furniture that is used for long periods of time. Your favorite recliner may also be harboring bed bugs. Check seams and folds where fabric bunches up. Be sure to remove cushions and check the edges.

Bed bugs have been observed inhabiting perimeter areas of a room, as well. Inspect where the carpet meets baseboard. Look behind swath plates and outlet covers.

Stop Blaming Yourself

Bed bugs are not the sign of a dirty house. They might have been brought in through someone’s luggage or stowed away in an item from a neighbors house. It’s not important how you got them, it’s important to exterminate your bed bugs now.
